St. Andrew's Nursery welcomes children from the age of three, who may attend any combination of morning or afternoon sessions, or whole days.
| The Montessori Method | ![]() |
| The Government's Early Learning Goals form the basis of the Nursery's Foundation Stage curriculum and these are approached through the Montessori Method. We believe in the Montessori principle that every child is biologically predisposed to learn, and that they will do so at their own pace and along their own particular lines of interest, because the best learning takes place when the child is allowed to teach himself. | |
| The Classrooms | |
| Our classrooms have areas where children can learn and practise specific skills, explore and experiment, try out ideas and socialise with others. In the Practical Life area children learn physical skills to help them become independent. In the Sensorial area children are helped in activities designed to refine the senses. Art and craft materials and tools are constantly available and music is an important part of the daily routine. First steps in language and literacy form part of the daily activities and number work is also important in the Nursery. |

| The Nursery is situated in the former coach house of Walmsley House, refurbished to provide spacious, bright accomodation, together with a secure outdoor play area. Using the School minibus, explorations further afield are possible, be this to a quarry, a sheep farm or to the local doctor or dentist's surgery. |
